2024 Garden and Roads Flower Subscriptions

We are making plans for gardens bursting with beautiful blooms in 2024 and excited that you are interested in a flower subscription so we can share the beauty of cut flowers and the bounty of our gardens with you! Your flowers may be in a vase or a wrapped bouquet (no vase). We have several different types of subscriptions, but we’re also flexible if you’d like a customized subscription. CSA is an abbreviation for Community Supported Agriculture our CSA subscriptions feature our locally grown flowers and help support our flower farm and other local farmers. Details below, but Email us with any questions.

Year-Round Subscription

We call it year round, but you can sign up any time! We include flowers from our gardens during the growing season and flowers from the wholesale market in the late fall, winter & early spring. Available monthly or every other week. Delivery schedule will be updated when we can map our 2024 customers, but will likely be similar to the schedule below. Pricing - minimum bouquet $25 for pick-up and $35 delivery, Vase $45.

Growing Season Subscriptions May - Oct:

We cap the 100% local CSA conservatively because mother nature can be fickle and we want to make sure we aren’t overselling our harvest, but our CSA Mix has some or lots of locally grown flowers in each bouquet. There is an option on the order form to add a spring bouquet in April if you want to enjoy some spring blooms.

  • CSA 100% locally grown flowers from our gardens and other local flower farmers

  • CSA Mix - these bouquets feature locally grown flowers, but also include flowers from further afield - perfect for someone who wants the beauty of local flowers, but also more variety and florist style flowers (like roses)

Spring CSA Subscription April/May - 100% locally grown

Bouquet vs Vase - What Type of flowers should I order?

Vase Arrangements: We’d recommend a vase arrangement if you want to ensure your flowers are artistically arranged in a lush floral style, you aren’t certain that the flower recipient has a vase or, if you need your flowers to travel and stay hydrated, we’d recommend a vase arrangement. What if I don’t want to pay for the vase every time? No problem - we are happy to have you return vases to us and we will put the cost of the vase back into the flowers the next month. Insider tip: some beautiful flower stems are too short to work well in bouquets, but are perfect for low vases including some varieties of sweet pea, early anemone and ranunculus, hellebores and more.

Bouquets: Bouquets are a bunch of flowers wrapped in craft paper or burlap. We think our bouquets are beautiful, but there is less artistic design work with bouquets and all stems are generally the same length. Bouquets are perfect for the person who wants to do some of their own floral design and arranging.

Price Point?

How do I know what price point to pick? There is a minimum order for delivery and it gets a little pricier when we have to travel more miles to get the flowers to you (Delivery pricing & minimums listed above). Floral items are priced by the number of flowers, the type of flowers (some are more expensive) and the complexity of the design. For our subscription customers, we typically have a mix of flowers with some being more expensive (roses, dahlias, peonies, ranunculus, anemone) and some being less expensive (daisy, carnations, mums) and many in-between. The starting price of a $25 bouquet would be 8-10 stems and add 1-3 flowers for each $5 increment. Most vases run between $4 - $10 and the price is included in the arrangement unless we have an agreement to get the vase back and reuse it.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR CUT FLOWERS:

  • Keep them out of direct sunlight

  • Even temperatures (keep away from radiators or the flow of forced hot air heater/or AC)

  • Keep away from fruit (especially apples, bananas as the give off ethylene, a gas that will shorten bloom time)

  • Change the water every other day

  • Give stems a fresh cut before they go back into the vase

  • Make sure your scissors and vase are clean before starting

  • Flower food/preservative will also lengthen the bloom time of your cut flowers.  As part of our ethos to use methods gentle to the environment, we do not provide little packets of flower food, but we will provide a small glass jar of flowers food upon request or you can easily make your own with a simple recipe:

    • 1 quart warm water (warm water helps the sugar dissolve)

    • 1 tablespoons lemon juice  or white vinegar (strained)

    • 1/2 tablespoon sugar

    • 1/4-1/2  teaspoon bleach – less is more with the bleach
